Setelah menyelesaikan tur mereka, One Direction saat ini tengah bersiap-siap untuk istirahat dari dunia musik. Sebagai ucapan selamat tinggal, grup yang beranggotakan Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, dan Niall Horan itu mengeluarkan lagu berjudul "History."

Tembang tersebut merupakan salah satu dari lagu yang ada di album baru mereka berjudul "Made in the A.M." Album tersebut akan dilempar ke pasar minggu depan pada tanggal 13 November bersamaan dengan album baru Justin Bieber "Purpose."

Liam menyebut lagu "History" sebagai versi modern dari lagu klasik "You've Got a Friend in Me." Ia dan teman-teman bandnya menyanyi diiringi oleh tepukan tangan dari para penggemar setia mereka. Menurut Liam, ide untuk mengikut-sertakan fans adalah idenya.
